BCHPA - What we are
So what is the BCHPA? Well the full name is the British Columbia Hang-gliding and Paragliding Association. Our remit is to develop and advocate for safe free flight across BC. In recent years this has mostly taken the form of matching contributions to site maintenance. Other things we’ve been a part of are the environmental impact assessment for free flight in national parks, which directly lead to the opening of Jasper National Park to free flight. We cover 50% of the server costs of Canada RASP. The BCHPA also provided 50% of the funds for the development of Upper Pemberton and the redevelopment of Woodside. For the coming years we hope to do more site development and more development of safe free flight in general.
So each year HPAC collects your membership contribution and we pool our resources to develop flying in BC. So how do you get some of that sweet development/cash in your area? First and foremost reach out to your regional representative introduced on the About tab. In collaboration with them you’ll develop a plan for the work and secure some funding (local club, local tourist board, council, private donations) and then the BCHPA Board considers the proposal and if deemed worthy (which it most likely will be as a result of your collaboration with your regional representative) the BCHPA matches the local funding. So get creative, think of something that would improve the flying in your area and get in touch!

Grants
Doing What We Do
The BCHPA board is dedicated to making sure project funds go only to sites which are open to all BC pilots and instructors.
As the funds come from everyone in BC, they cannot be used for private sites. |
